Church of Christ at Oakdale
1320 E. 9th Street, Suite #8
Edmond, OK 73034

The Church of Christ at Oakdale is a young, vibrant community of disciples in the Oklahoma City/Edmond area. The congregation began in March 2010 as a church plant of Memorial Road Church of Christ. We have grown from 60 to about 150 members in the last five years, with an average Sunday morning attendance of 180. There are currently 16 teens in the youth group, all between 7th and 10th grade; that number would double in the next two years based solely on our current membership. In fact, about 20% of Oakdale’s membership is under the age of 13. Overall, almost 75% of our members are under the age of 40, blessing Oakdale with a strong base of students, young professionals, and young families.

Oakdale’s leadership includes three elders and five deacons. The staff includes a fulltime Preaching Minister and four Children’s Ministry volunteers: Children’s Ministry Director, Preschool Coordinator, Grade School Coordinator, and Curriculum Coordinator.

Small Groups and Family Ministry are vital to Oakdale’s mission to “love God and our neighbors.” Oakdale is a “high commitment” congregation that asks each member to consider how he or she can best serve Christ with their gifts and talents.

The Church of Christ at Oakdale meets at Oakdale School for Sunday morning Bible class and worship, and meets in members’ homes throughout the week for small groups. In June 2015, the elders announced a capital campaign to raise funds for a permanent building in the Oakdale neighborhood. Our five-acre plot is fully paid for, and we plan to begin construction in 2018. Oakdale currently rents an offsite office in Edmond for our ministers, elders, and deacons to meet and work.

The Youth and Family Minister will serve as the key leader of student ministries at the Church of Christ at Oakdale. He will be part of a team composed of the Preaching Minister, Elders, Deacons, Ministry Leaders, and Volunteers, and will work closely with the Family Involvement Deacon to foster intergenerational connections within the congregation and community. The ideal candidate will be relational, creative, energetic, technologically advanced, and passionate about working in a church plant environment. He will be able to motivate teens and their parents, and will have strong communication skills, an innovative mindset to leadership and problem solving, and a track record of building and growing a student ministry. He will be passionate about Jesus and purposeful in building a ministry where students are growing in faith, maturity, and Christian influence.
